About Capital Radio Club, Sacramento

Location and Formation: 

Capital Radio Club is an Amateur Radio Club located in Sacramento. It is a social club centered around ham radio. It was created on September 1, 2025 by a group of 6 ham radio operators, many of whom know each other through Ham Radio Outlet, but the club is steadily growing beyond this.

The Club's Purpose: 

Capital Radio Club Sacramento exists for the purpose of increasing networking opportunities between like minded individuals who have an interest in Ham Radio. Through networking, fellowship and fun members are better positioned to exchange ideas with peers, share knowledge with others, increase individual operating efficiency, and advance the general interest of amateur radio in the community. Members of the ham radio club aim to stimulate interest in amateur radio by participating in on-air and on-line social networks, meetups, workshops, field operations, public service events, exercises, conventions, and the American Radio Relay League (ARRL).

Our Philosophy:

A small group of friends decided to band together and create a ham club because they enjoy hanging out with each other, enjoy exploring together the many rabbit holes that exist within the amateur radio hobby, and enjoy mentoring new and prospective hams. The formation of a new Sacramento amateur radio club was seen as a way to further these pursuits and offer hams in the Sacramento area something new and different in terms of a ham club.

A tenet of the original founding members was to keep the organizational and management tasks of the amateur radio club to a minimum. To accomplish this the club fosters networks that empower members to engage in the ham radio hobby with one another, and individual members initiate, run, and self-fund activities. The club established minimal organizational papers and officers necessary to obtain a club call and be recognized by the FCC and ARRL as a club, but is not operationally focused on such. The club adheres to its by-laws for guidance, but in order to keep the focus on the club's purpose administrative tasks are performed on the side-lines.
